Eight teams. 28 possible permutations. And some potentially predictable previewing. That’s the Champions League quarter-final draw.

This is a little bit of fun in anticipation of the draw tomorrow - a run-down of the phrases and angles we think might turn up in the write-ups and previews tomorrow. We’ll keep an eye open for it as the day goes on.

Without further ado, here are our predictions, in no particular order:

They’ll be pleased to have avoided the heavyweights / big guns / English opposition / the draw has been kind to the Gunners

The tie Chelsea didn’t want / the two form sides

Manchester United – Porto

A repeat of their meeting in 2004

Barcelona – Bayern

The English teams will be glad to have avoided Barca / Barca will be glad to have avoided the English teams / A meeting of two European heavyweights
