Meet the housemates

Catch up on Day 7-10

Day Eight

Alan has gone for being too boring, but the housemates act like he was never there since he was banned from nominating players for transfers anyway. Instead he has gone back to the Toon where he will hold crunch talks with Mike about being allowed to play the transfer game again. Alan retains hope that he will be allowed back in the house in one of those Big Transfer House twists, but those in the house remain convinced he is gone for good because he is no longer high profile enough since Newcastle got relegated.

Alex jokes that maybe if he does become Newcastle Manager again and take charge of all their Championship players they will film the next series of “I’m a Celebrity. . . Get Me out of Here!” at St. James’s Park, following in the footsteps of his old mate Kevin who has already won the series twice. Harry notes that it will be stiff competition this year, with Micahel, Mark and Obafemi all involved, but when he tried to get Sebastien out already but he wanted  to stay to try and win more prize money.

Cristiano, meanwhile, seemed a hot favourite for eviction the following week, with Alex and Florentino having agreed a pact to nominate him, and Cristiano went to the diary room to sob because he’d heard Alex was already thinking about replacing him once he was evicted with a guy called Douglas, who everybody was calling ‘the new Cristiano’. “After all I’ve done for him, he’s just going to forget about me and get a younger model to take my place,” wept Cristiano. “I’ve been spending a lot of time talking with Florentino and he doesn’t even seem jealous” he went on, spluttering uncontrollably before regaining his calm and telling Big Transfer that Florentino has promised him lots of silver bling for his mantlepiece and gold bling to wear round his neck, and then we’d see if Alex was jealous.

Day Nine

Big Transfer House sets the housemates a numbers task, setting them budgets to try to work out who they can and can’t afford. Confusion reigns, as Rafa looks to blow the shopping budget on Glen, after being impressed by his poise when the life-size doll came into the house on Day Ten. Most housemates think he is putting all his eggs in one basket, but Roman, Carlo, Garry and Mark all look envious, crossing him off their own shopping lists. Rafa thinks he has spent too much, but is glad he spent it anyway. Alex is very confused, as Douglas’s price is unclear and people think he doesn’t have enough money, but he keeps checking the calculator and is convinced that if Cristiano gets evicted he will have a bigger budget. In the end Alex gets annoyed, throws all the teacups at the wall and picks up the hairdryer, insisting it’s a stupid game anyway and he’ll play his own game in his own time.

Day Ten

Big Transfer House is a tense place today. The simmering row between Florentino and Alex has errupted again as they are attracted to the same toys. After an acromonious battle over the Ken ‘football player edition’ doll called Cristiano which was settled when Florentino offered Alex lots of gold coins, they are now arguing over who gets to play with Antonio. “I saw him first” shouts Alex. “But I want all the best toys” replied Florentino. “You can’t have all the best toys, you can’t play with them all at once and Antonio is too good to be left on the shelf, I want him to replace my Cristiano toy,” responded Alex.

Both are called to the diary room, and told that their behaviour is unacceptable. One by one, they will be called into the diary room where they will say what they are prepared to give the Wigan Player Factory for their Ecuadorian prize asset, and then Big Transfer House will talk to the factory and get back to them next week. Both offer different amounts with a £4m gap between their offers, and Big Transfer House declares the matter closed - anymore fighting and they will have to do a forfeit involving Danielle and some cheap wine. They both agree to call it a truce.

Day Eleven

The results of this weeks nominations are revealed - Alex and Florentino have one nomination each, but Cristiano, Carlos and Stanley are all up for eviction. Cristiano has upset people with his mood swings and crying (which everyone is convinced is play acting) and gloating about how much prize money Florentino has promised him when he leaves the House, whilst Stanley has been a lot quieter and more boring than everyone expected, refusing to offer the group any of his opinions for fear of being mocked. “These people are more intelligent than your average Mirror reader who reads my column” Stanley protests in the diary room. “They might notice the gaping holes in my logic.”

Carlo, Roman and Alex were thinking about nominating Franck, but were not sure he wanted to leave the House or that his sponsors would let him, so decided to wait and see. Florentino still nominated him anyway, saying he didn’t care what his current sponsors thought as he has lots of gold coins and wasn’t afraid to use them.

Meanwhile in the House, Emmanuel has been awfully quiet. Rafael suggests to Danielle that she goes to talk to him and try and cheer him up, but Danielle refuses because he doesn’t belong to Spurs but to their rivals Arsenal. Harry makes Danielle some alphabetti spaghetti to thank her for her loyalty, and they discuss potential future boyfriends from his squad in the event that her current flavour of the month Jamie leaves for Fulham. Eventually, Carlo goes over to Emmanuel and asks what’s wrong. “I heard people whispering that Milan likes Edin, and I though Milan liked me,” he tells Carlo, holding back the tears. I thought we were a match made in heaven, but they seem to have gone off me and now they’re looking at Edin and Luis. “There there, Emannuel. I still like you. When I get a chance to talk to Didier and he decides what to do, maybe we can be friends?” “Thanks,” says Emmanuel, “I just want to feel wanted again.” Emmanuel and Carlo rejoin the group.

Carlos is given a reprieve, with many people still intrigued by the relationships he is developing with Mark and Garry as well as Carlo and Roman, but Big Transfer House decides a shock double eviction is necessary. Ronaldo has a plane waiting to take him to Madrid the next day, whilst Stanley’s silence on all matters football sees him booted out.

Day Twelve

All the talk is of a possible new housemate after the double eviction of the night before, with lots of chatter centering on Karim, something that particularly excites Alex as well as, inevitably, Florentino.

With not much else to do, Alex, Florentino, Mark and Garry decide to pick on Harry, who has so far not won a single task in the house. Mark needles Harry, reminding him that in January he was providing lots of competition in the transfer games and won quite a few rounds, but now he didn’t seem like he was trying very hard. Harry protested that he was trying, he just doesn’t like to go on about it. In fact, he tells the house he was in the diary room just that morning talking about Victor and Maxi, and they all laughed at him and made a list of places they are going on holiday to this summer to buy gifts that Harry can’t afford.

Rafael comforts Harry and says he understands how he feels, but it’s no use - Harry points out that even Rafael was able to afford to spend £17.5m on Glen, one of his favourite full-backs, and that Harry wanted to take him with him after he left the Porstmouth Player Factory to work for a big business in London.

More arguments start when Big Transfer House sets them a task. The managers have to stand in a line in the garden with the man with the biggest tranfer budget at one end and the smallest at the other. Despite Florentino’s bravado, standing right at the top end and refusing to move, Garry steps in and barges him out the way so him and Mark can take his place, citing their ‘limitless’ transfer budget as being bigger than Florentino’s ‘massive galactico piggy bank”. Florentino and Alex have another row, with Alex insisting he has more gold coins left following the £80m swing in his favour since Cristiano was evicted. Carlo asked Roman where he should stand, and Roman simply shrugged and pledged a marquee signing (or two) of undisclosed value. Harry and Rafael disputed who had the least money to spend, but agreed in the end that Rafael would go ahead of Harry but they would swap places if Harry manages to get £18m for Darren. This notion lightened the mood and the tension dissolved as everybody fell about laughing. Except Harry.

Day Thirteen

The Big Transfer Housemates were given another task which casues further dissention and has Carlos spitting his dummy in disgust. Given a fictional squad of attackers including Craig Bellamy, Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz, and Samuel Eto’o and Robinho, each housemate has to choose their first choice forward line for a fictional ‘big game’. Carlos finds himself on the bench in every side, except Alex’s, but Carlos storms off saying that Alex’s selection of him was “too little, too late.” Mark feels hungry, as he’s been salivating over these forward options for a while, with Garry whispering in his ear that this was the real thing for him but just a game for the others, adding that in the diary room they let him look at the News of the World and Eto’o is definintely, definitely a done deal, and not to worry about Carlos sulking as they would definitely evict him and send him off to Eastlands this week too.

Florentino says this forward line can’t compare with Ronaldo and Kaka, and reminds Garry that history and ambition are more important than money. Garry says that when the Man City brand launches properly with scooters and energy drinks the big players will come running.  Alex asks if Garry knows anything about football, and Garry tells him to shut up, saying he won’t be laughing when he signs Pele, Maradona and Johann Cruyff. Harry says he would rather have Jermain, Robbie, Roman and Darren than the forwards in the Big Transfer House Challenge, but can’t keep a straight face and everyone has a good chuckle, except Danielle who doesn’t get it. She really would rather have them, or at least the ones she hasn’t already had.

Rafael is called to the diary room to take an incoming phone call from the outside world. It is one of his best friends, Fernando, who tells him he should buy some players from Valencia, because they’re all really good and definitely better than that Lucas guy who can’t pass to him and that young French guy David who he sometimes has to play along side. “I know,” replied Rafael, “Why are you telling me this useless information - I used to be their Manager!” Rafael puts the phone down, and bemoans Fernando’s poor grasp on the facts on his managerial career.

Day Fourteen

The housemates are bored when suddenly the door flies open and in walks Karim. “Bonjour!” says Karim, as Alex and Florentino push and barge people out the way to try to meet the new housemate first, both with a sparkle in their eye. Over the course of the day, both Florentino and Alex offer Karim treats and promise more prizes if he becomes their friend on a long term basis, but Florentino gets some vital time alone with Karim as Alex takes his turn to take a call from the outside world. It is his old friend Wayne, who has been watching developments with Cristiano and Carlos and wanted to plead with Alex to let him play in their old play space. Alex shouts at Wayne, telling him he wants a new guy to play in their play space as well, and he should leave him alone to make some new friends.

Big Transfer House sets a new challenge for the evening, asking them to do impressions of other people in the football world. Rafael goes first, doing an impression of Arsene by signing a 16 year old from under the noses of Barcelona and telling everyone he will be “the new Cesc.” Franck, meanwhile, continues his Cristiano impression, with his sponsors insisting he is staying put whilst he gives the appearance of a man who want to go to Real Madrid. Frustrated onlookers in the house are still keen to evict him on a big transfer at the earliest opportunity.

Day Fifteen

Roman and Carlo are up early, whispering over a continental breakfast before Roman poors out two tumblers of Vodka and offers a toast. Carlo declines, opting for an espresso instead so Roman has both, espousing the joys of being your own boss.

As the others awaken Carlo is singing “3 is the magic number,” and when people ask why he’s so happy he tells them how he will be adding some new toys to his collection. One Russian doll, nicknamed the Russian Ronaldinho, and two Enlgish toys called Daniel and Ross who he has never heard of but Roman is offering as a welcome gift as they’re on special offer and they will just be back up for when his more expensive ones need a rest  or need mending anyway.

Meanwhile, Harry has been using his special item, a portable TV with Sky Sports, to watch some of the European Under 21s matches. Danielle catches a glimpse of an 18 year old called Danny who she will keep her eye on and Harry says he will introduce her when they’re out of the house, just in case Jamie does go to Fulham. Harry also likes the look of the guy in the yellow shirt called Marcus scoring all the goals.

Elsewhere, after the Antonio dispute is settled with Alex declared the winner, resident trouble-maker Florentino is teasing Rafael about how he is getting closer to Xabi, showing him his big bag of gold coins and taunting him about how he ruined things with Xabi by flirting with Gareth last year. Rafael goes to the diary room asking for a phone call to ring Xabi and tell him how much he means to him, but he is told he has already had his phone call this week. “Damn Fernando and his pointless message!” shouts Rafael. “I must sit him down and go through the facts of my career as soon as I’m out of here!”
